Haverfordwest County do battle with Barry Town United in the JD Cymru Premier on Tuesday evening, in an important game for both sides at the Ogi Bridge Meadow.

The Bluebirds will be looking for a response after the 6-0 defeat to leaders The New Saints at Park Hall on Saturday, which brought an end to their two-game winning streak in the league.

Barry, meanwhile, have made a mixed start to their season, winning four, drawing three and losing five of their 12 matches to date.

The Linnets were in action against Aberystwyth Town on Saturday, drawing 1-1 at Jenner Park with Harry Franklin’s 85th minute equaliser denying Gavin Chesterfield’s side the three points, after Kayne McLaggon had given them the lead 20 minutes into the second-half.

The sides met previously in Phase One at the end of the August, with the Bluebirds edged out 3-2 despite a brace from Ben Fawcett, with Clayton Green’s 89th minute penalty giving Barry the victory.

There was nothing to separate the teams in the two encounters which took place last season, with Barry winning 2-1 at home in September 2020, before the Bluebirds got their revenge three months later with a victory by the same scoreline at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, thanks to a Fawcett double.

With the JD Cymru Premier table still very congested at this stage of the season, the Bluebirds could move up to seventh place with a victory. They could, mathematically, climb to as high as fourth, however the respective goal differences mean this is unlikely.

Wayne Jones’ side know they will not drop into the bottom two whatever the result, with the gap to Aberystwyth Town currently four points. Should Cardiff Metropolitan lose to Penybont, then a draw would be enough to move County up one place to ninth.
