The Bridge Meadow welcomes Aberystwyth on Tuesday (13th) for a 7.45pm under the floodlights.

Last Time Out

The Bluebirds travelled to Cefn Druids at the weekend, where a last minute winner for the home side denied County a point. Niall Flint put Druids in front inside 10 minutes in a first half that had few chances. Kieran Lewis headed onto the post just before the halfway mark, but the Bluebirds headed in at half time behind. County came out fighting in the second half, Kieran Lewis tested Mike Jones from the edge of the area after receiving the ball from a Ben Fawcett flick on. Fawcett himself had a chance shortly after, the ball was flicked into his path but he fired narrowly wide from a few yards out. After an intense period of pressure, Danny Williams equalised for the away side. Alaric Jones clipped a ball into the box, then a scramble ensued and the ball dropped to Williams, who fired home. However, despite Bluebirds pressure, it was Charley Edge who raced away to score in the 90th minute to give Druids all 3 points.

Aberystwyth also suffered late defeat at the weekend. Aber took the lead in the first half through Marc Williams and led for a significant spell of the game. However, Tyrone Ofori equalised for Newtown in the 76th minute, before Jordan Evans scored in the 92nd to ensure the points went home with the Robins.

The Reverse Fixtures

Back in December, Aberystwyth travelled to the Bridge Meadow for a game with plenty of drama. Jack Wilson gave the Bluebirds and early lead before a Danny Williams header made it 2-0 just before half time. There were no goals in the second half, but the game was suspended due to floodlight failure for 30 minutes. After some hard work by the electrician, the game was able to finish with the Bluebirds taking all 3 points.

Just a few weeks ago, the Bluebirds travelled to Park Avenue, where there was once again drama. In a game in which new signing Jazz Richards made his debut, Aber dominated the first half without making a breakthrough. However, it took only 10 minutes into the second half for Jamie Reed to fire the home side in front. County improved after this goal, and Ben Fawcett stuck in the equaliser in the 82nd minute. It was then Louis Bradford who popped up in the 92nd minute to nod home from a corner to deny the Bluebirds a point.

The Table

After the weekend’s results, the Bluebirds remain top of the Play-Off Conference, 6 points ahead of Newtown. Aberystwyth are in 3rd place, 8 points behind the Bluebirds and needing 3 points to remain in the hunt for top spot.
