The club are delighted to announce that Mark Murison is our newly appointed Head of Coaching, with almost 20 years involvement in football; of experience in playing, academy and first team level coaching and running his own coaching business, as well as having a portfolio of industry knowledge and qualifications.

Mark’s coaching career is backed up by a proven track record in player and coach development, and in devising and designing coaching programmes and curriculums which can be utilised throughout the club.

Mark’s has recently qualified as a UEFA A Senior and Elite Youth coach via the FAW and coupled with years of experience at all levels of the game and having a career built on an academic foundation we know that Mark will be a huge asset to not only Haverfordwest County AFC but also the Football Association of Wales.

“I am very excited to be in the position of Head of Coaching and will be working hard to create a positive environment for players to develop which will be supported by a robust coach education plan for each individual and the club.” Mark already has good history at the club having been Under 15s and Under 16s Lead Coach for the past two seasons leading them to the super six and within touching distance of a final before COVID prevented the completion of the season.

Mark has already had some time in the role and had this to say: “I am loving every minute if it so far. Obviously COVID is causing a lot of problems for everyone and it has made the job 100x harder than it would otherwise be but we are happy to have players back training and creating a safe and fun environment for them to play. Trials for the coming season are now completed and we are following a 6 stage plan to return to games so this is something to look forward to for everyone.” Murison is already looking to the future stating that “I have a lot of changes I want to bring to the academy and will work hard to create a positive environment for the players to develop. This will be helped by implementing changes to our philosophy, player development, coach development, talent identification and much more.”

Mark was also First Team Coach for Haverfordwest in 2019/2020 helping to lead the team to promotion to the Cymru Premier League and has for this season became Assistant Manager for 2020/2021.
