We at Haverfordwest County AFC are pleased to announce the start of the exciting Huddle project in partnership with the FAW and Weetabix.

Introduction:

Huddle is a FAW Trust National Programme designed to introduce girls aged 4-11 to football in a fun, friendly and social environment. For those wanting to join a club, Huddle will act as a steppingstone into a team, but some will be happy enough staying at Huddle! Huddle sessions will be operated by qualified coaches and supported by friendly Huddle Coordinators to be on hand to answer any questions the girls or parents may have!

Why is the Huddle being introduced?

Quite simply we want more girls to have the opportunity to get involved in football, in the right place with the right people and in a ‘no-pressure’ environment! National data shows that physical activity levels start to decrease in children as young as 7 years of age. This also marks the ‘tipping point’ for confidence and attitudes in girls and can therefore determine whether a girl will have lifelong involvement in physical activity. Huddle is designed to introduce girls to football in a relaxed environment so that they can enjoy with their friends, without the pressure of joining an official team, or feel the need to be good at a sport. Research shows that by introducing girls to new activities in this way will build their confidence and reduce the fears of not being good enough, competing with boys and the pressure to perform.
