Sunday saw our 12s/14s/16s travel up to Penybont where we received a very warm welcome from our hosts.
First up were our 16s who were looking to build on their previous win and they didnt dissappoint as they ran out 2 nil victors.
After an even start the Bluebirds took the lead on 25 mins as Jack Jones headed in from a Chandler freekick.
On 31 mins Dan James pace and strength took him past 2 Penybont players, James then released Archie Smith who calmly controlled the pass before dispatching the ball past the onrushing GK.
Though Penybont tried to get back in the game Manager Mark Murison was delighted at how his lads saw the game out to ensure they continue with 100% start.
Next up were 14s.
The Bluebirds gave a great account of themselves as they left the Kymco with a 2-2 draw against a quick and strong Penybont side.
Dan John gave the Blubirds the lead only to be pegged back by Penybont however a fantastic freekick from Seth Woodhouse got our noses back in front.
When Escher Cryer was adjudged to have handled in his box the resulting penalty was saved by John Chesters only for the referee to adjudge he had moved off his line.
Once again though Chesters was up to the task as he saved the 2nd spot kick to keep his team in front.
But it wasnt to be their first win as Penybont grabbed an equaliser and the game finished level.
Our 12s finished the day of games off in what turned out to be a 7 goal thriller.
The lads started slowly and found themselves 2-0 down through Penybont set pieces. A strong run and cool finish from captain Connor Davies pulled it back to 2-1 just before the break.
The second half once again saw the Bluebirds undone by another set piece and then they conceded a further soft goal midway through the half to find themselves 4-1 down. But to their credit they dug deep and with 5 mins to go Corey Riley picked out Sammy Vaughan-Harries who headed home to make it 4-2. Then with 3 mins to go Zachariah Owen stabbed the ball into the net after a goalmouth mellè and in the dying seconds Sammy Vaughan-Harries, chasing a hopeless cause, forced the home keeper to make a brave save to ensure that the Bluebirds returned home pointless.
Penybont 4-3 Haverfordwest
Sunday we welcome Pontadawe who are unbeaten so we are sure to expect another tough encounter for our squads.
